Blog page not displaying intro text properly
Since upgrading to Joomla 3.9.23 our two blog pages are displaying differently although they have not been touched at all.
a) Each blog article has an small image in 1st paragraph then, a short paragraph of text, then READMORE bar, then rest of article. But on front end the images don’t show anymore and they are absent from source code.
b) On front end the text before the Readmore is displayed, but instead of showing the READMORE at that point, it continues with a fixed amount of intro text – dipping into the main article to achieve this. Only then does it show the Readmore.
Strangely enough, the one article that has the image in the “images and links” tab, does show the image, but the Readmore position is ignored too.
Any help would be most appreciated. I have spent the whole morning trying to work this out with no luck whatsover.

Perhaps you mean something else by “have you done overrides on files”? Is this something I should have done that I haven’t?

Readmore break not functioning
In my text editor the position of the Read More is being ignored. All blog articles instead have fixed line/character instead, and they all run into the main article to achieve this. Then the Readmore appears. What can I do to get the Intro text to break at the READMORE as I have it in the text editor?
Version : Joomla 3.9.23
I posted yesterday but havent received a reply and am getting quite desperate.
Any help would be most appreciated!

Did you installed a plugin that automatically break after a fixed amount of characters?

Re: Readmore break not functioning

Re: Readmore break not functioning
annahersh thank you for response. I did have “Show Readmore” active. Mine does not have a “Readmore” limit option, like yours. Why? Is that significant (since the problem is that a Readmore Limit is overriding my own Readmore positioning)?

Re: Readmore break not functioning
All articles worked perfectly as blogs for over seven years. I.e. they are on their own lines.
This is a sudden development with no intervention or changes on my part. Only routine Joomla and plugin updates to latest versions.

Per, thanks for the response!
The template I use for site is a custom made template which has functioned perfectly for over 8 years since it was made. I followed tutorials in doing it which included instructions for getting full blog functionality and it has worked 100% up until now. Something is overriding the Readmore function and forcing it to a fixed limited length, which in turn a) ignores any images placed in intro and b) uses part of actual article to complete the number of required characters.
The one article which does not have a hard image in the intro but as linked in the “Intro Images” option tab – does display its images.
Are you saying I should temporarily try “Protostar” template to see if it restores functionality?

Re: Blog page not displaying intro text properly
Thank you Webdongle. I have just tested with Protostar and there is no change – same problem remains: no images and readmore position is ignored.
Can it not be that my latest version did not install properly? Because, e.g. my Menu Item option (for category blog) does not have Readmore Limit = the way annahersch’s does.

Re: Blog page not displaying intro text properly
Could it be a 3rd party extension causing the problem? Perhaps an extension that is associated with Articles?
